Brakes & Friction

Brake pads, discs, drums, shoes and calipers are the parts most likely to fail in a way that is genuinely dangerous, and they wear out through normal driving rather than as a fault. Every part in this category is matched against OEM fitment data before it reaches a shelf.

Why it matters

Worn brake components increase stopping distance and can damage other parts of the braking system if left too long. A worn pad that is not replaced will eventually cut into the disc itself, turning a low-cost repair into a much larger one.

When to replace

Most brake pads last between 30,000 and 70,000 km, but heavy city driving, frequent stop-start traffic and towing all shorten that considerably. Discs typically last two to three pad changes before they need resurfacing or replacement themselves.

Signs you may need a replacement

  • A high-pitched squeal or metallic grinding when braking
  • The car pulling to one side under braking
  • A soft or spongy brake pedal
  • Visible grooves or scoring on the brake disc
  • A vibration through the steering wheel or pedal when slowing down
